Objectives

Understanding how the main tectonic structures of the Apennines control crustal deformation and rupture propagation during major earthquakes.

Methodology

Integration of field data, structural analyses, geochemical and palaeoseismological information and dynamic numerical modelling.

Expected impact

Production of realistic coseismic rupture simulations, geological datasets and applied tools aimed at assessing seismic risk and raising awareness of territorial vulnerability.
